About the Author
Fallon Rowe, who now resides in St. George, Utah, close to Zion National Park, grew up in Idaho, then earned her geology degree at Utah State University. She thrives with multiple identities: dirtbag climber, high school science teacher, writer, geoscience researcher, photographer, climbing coach, and guide. Since 2017, sheβs been a sponsored rock climber with support from multiple brands, allowing her to live out her adventure dreams. Rock climbing has been the central focus of her life since 2003, but she has persisting passion for nature, science, literature, and Stoic philosophy.

At nineteen, Fallon Rowe was swept into a whirlwind romance with a charismatic new climbing partner, leaving behind her geology studies in northern Utah for an expedition that would change her life forever. Together, they set out for Patagonia to climb the legendary Fitz Royβa peak far beyond her experience level. But what began as an adventure quickly spiraled into chaos, marked by illness, violence, run-ins with Argentinian police, and a toxic relationship that tested her endurance in ways she never imagined.
Returning to Utah, Fallon found herself trappedβisolated, broke, and physically and emotionally drained. As her partnerβs untreated bipolar disorder drove their world into further turmoil, she fought to reclaim her identity and freedom. "Pay No Mind" is an unflinching account of survival, addiction, and the battle to escape both a dangerous relationship and the limits imposed by fear. In climbing, as in life, the hardest route is often the one that leads to freedom.

Fallon Rowe offers a vivid, if startling view into a chapter of life rarely shared with such detail and intensity. Pay No Mind is a brutally honest look at how passion and obsession can decay into the horror of pathological abuse. Its pages not only detail the trauma one woman has endured, they reveal the tragic patterns of what itβs like for anyone to fall prey to anotherβs sickness and manipulation.
This courageous memoir is a powerful reminder that we are not alone, and that we have the power to move on β no matter how stuck we may feel. It will encourage readers to take a shrewd look at their own relationships and inspire them to do anything possible to avoid what Rowe has suffered.
