22 Seasons on North America’s greatest peak
We are proud to announce today’s official release of Lisa Roderick’s memoir, A Place Among Giants: 22 Seasons at Denali Basecamp!
With vivid storytelling and heartfelt reflections, Lisa shares the beauty and challenges of life in one of the world's most majestic yet unforgiving landscapes. Through her encounters with climbers, wildlife, and the harsh elements, she reveals the profound connections forged in this remote haven, where every season brings new lessons and perspectives.
At 20,320 feet, Denali is North America’s tallest mountain. It attracts over 1,200 climbers annually from all over the world to its challenging slopes, as well as thousands of tourists who experience the mountain by scenic flight tours. As Denali Basecamp Manager, Lisa Roderick spent up to ten weeks each year living in a small tent at 7,200 feet on the remote Kahiltna Glacier, the starting point for climbing expeditions heading for Denali and numerous surrounding mountains.
This memoir is not just about the grandeur of Denali; it's a celebration of resilience, community, and the transformative power of nature. Join Roderick as she navigates the highs and lows of her unique life among giants, inviting readers to find their own place in the wilderness.
