Thomas Huber on Ageless Athlete
Thomas Huber, German climbing legend and author of Freiheit: Freedom in the Mountains, is featured on the Ageless Athlete Podcast.
Hosts of the show say: “The mountain always show you how far you can go, and how far you are allowed to go, because the biggest success will be always not to reach the summit, but to come back alive from expedition.” 🗻🧗🏾🧡 @thomas_huberbuam
Never thought I’d get to sit down and ask questions to one of my climbing heroes from over the decades 🏔️ Thomas Huber, one half of the iconic Huber brothers, is almost 60, is still crushing it, and is heading to the Karakoram as we speak.
Thomas has summitted some of the world’s most challenging mountains, including the Ogre, Cerro Torre, and the elusive Latok 1. He’s also made his mark on Yosemite Valley, where he and his brother Alex became part of the legendary “Stone Monkey” community, climbing some of the most iconic routes, including the Salathe Wall on El Capitan. His journey from overcoming childhood fears to a lifelong career as one of the world’s top climbers is what dreams are made of.
We chat about how this Piolet d’Or winner, climbing’s biggest prize, finds freedom in the mountains, pushes through setbacks, and connects with cultures around the globe. His perspective is shifting how I view my own climbing journey.
Plus, his amazing new book ‘Freiheit: Freedom In The Mountains’, is hard to put down! 📚
